After
conducting number of insightful summer internship sharing sessions & a
session on guidelines for participating in B-School competitions, it was the
time for preparing SoM-12 students for their fast approaching summer
placements. As intimated before, ConSIG, the Consulting Club at SJMSoM,
conducted session on summers interview process that included sharing of
original case studies & guesstimate questions faced by the SoM-11 students
during their summer placement interviews.
The session commenced with Siva Subramanian explaining the selection procedure of Deloitte that included a Case-Based GD, presentation of the case by each individual, followed by a personal-interview. He also gave valuable guidance about preparation required for the same. He suggested students to improve on communication & presentation skills, which are a must for a consulting profile. He also emphasized on the importance of resume building & VAQs. He kept the floor open for all kinds queries related to summer interview preparation. We made use of the opportunity by clearing our doubts related to VAQs & resume.
After that Siva shared his summer internship experience of Deloitte. He told students about vast knowledge base of Deloitte, its flexi & employee friendly work culture & CSR activities.
The session continued with Sanjoe, Ujjain & Shreyas from SoM-11 batch sharing their interview experience of Asian Paints & Everstone (formally FCH). They told students about cases & guesstimates asked to them during their interviews. They also shared the methodology they adopted while solving the problems. Shreyas emphasized on the importance of thinking aloud while solving a case while Ujjain stressed on HR portion of the interview.
Then, Swanadeep (from SoM11) shared his interview experience of Global eProcure followed by Amulya & Vishal’s interview experiences of Frost & Sullivan. Vishal concluded the session by emphasizing on the learning students get from such sessions. He advised SoM-12 students to take full advantage of such interactions for their summers preparations.
The session added immense value to our understanding of summers interview process as we were able to clear our doubts related to resume & VAQs. Also, it was the first session in SOM where we got insights on the selection procedure of some of the best companies & the preparation required for the same. We look forward to have more such value-added sessions by ConSIG.
