Consulting Continuum 2012


SJMSOM successfully concluded the 1st leg of the annual continuum series today under the capable management of Consig, the consulting club. The theme for the Consulting Continuum was - "Sustainability spawning new standards".
The Consulting Continuum saw excellent participation in the Pre-Event competition Convoluted which was an online quiz followed by a case study with over 100 participants from various B-Schools across the nation. The eventual winners were

·  Winners -  The Gunners ( NITIE) 
·  1st Runner-up  -  Lord Labak Das (IIM Calcutta
·  2nd Runner-up -  Front runners (IIM Indore)

The consulting continuum started with an inauguration speech by Professor Shishir Jha of SJMSOM. Professor Jha has been on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Indian Culture and Business Management and was the Project Lead of Creative Commons.  He is also a member of the IP policy review committee and IPR cell at IIT Bombay. His areas of interest include digital economy, copyright and public domain in the digital economy, WTO, global political economy and International relations among many others.


His introduction was followed by the first speaker Mr. Gaurav Gupta, Partner and regional director for Asia at Dalberg global development advisors. He gave a very interesting view on how to bring about sustainability without talking about it. The next speaker was Mr. Ritesh Chopra, Director and India lead at Capgemini consulting. He gave some very interesting insights on harnessing the power of social media. This was followed by a panel discussion on managing the business risks of open innovation. The members of this panel were Mr. Ranjan Banerjee, CEO of Renaissance strategic consultants, Mr. Sandip Biswas, Director, strategy and operations at Deloitte consulting and Ms. Sangeeta Sawant, Client partner at Bristlecone. The panel, moderated by Prof. Shishir Jha, engaged the audience in a very lively and humorous discussion covering the breadth of the topic right from the inception of innovation to its marketability. This discussion was followed by a speech from Mr. Praneet Gupta, India strategy leader at Cummins ltd who talked about India’s growth and globalization and how it would affect us. The last speaker for the day was Mr. Malay Shah, Senior principal of strategy at Infosys consulting. He shared his views on building Indian infrastructure to sustain India’s growth and achieve social objectives.
