And that’s how it’s done!!!

25/1/2013 was a holiday for all IIT-B students, but SOM students had blocked their calendars for lecture by Mr Dilip Chenoy, MD & CEO National Skill Development Corporation. The lecture was precursor to the Leadership course which will start in the 4th term and was convened by Prof. Shivganesh Bhargava.

Mr. Dilip started his speech by sharing the most fundamental definition of a leader as one: who provides solutions, multitasks and keeps energy to ensure that dreams become reality. Mr. Dilip, himself a sportsperson, gave plethora of examples from his early days as how sports moulded a leader out of him. Mr. Dilip also shared the rare insights of his interactions with doyens of industry. He emphasized that leader should have an eye for detail but should beware of Mafa syndrome (mistaking activity to achievement).

Mr. Dilip shared the statistics about the future employment demand of the world and how he was working towards making sure that India picks up the opportunity to fulfil this demand. He stressed on importance of Ethics and explained how it plays a significant role in the way you conduct your business. He concluded by accentuating that the power of will and the drive of dreams transform you into a leader.

After the session, questions were asked on the Indian education system, Mr. Dilip’s success story and how technology should be a driving force of Indian Economy. Mr. Dilip patiently answered all the questions by giving exciting real life examples.

The session ended with vote of thanks by Prof. Shivganesh Bhargava following which Mr. Dilip was presented with a memento by SJMSOM HOD Prof. Gajendra Kumar Adil.

This was a lecture to remember which instigated a strong feeling of becoming a leader amongst all of us.

I as well as an aspiring blog writer, but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any recommendations for newbie blog writers? I’d appreciate it.
